15 PLANES WASHED at KMVN Event in June '09! 6/09
PLANE WASH - DID SOMEBODY SAY PLANE WASH?! 6/09
Girl Scout Outreach - POSTPONED UPDATE 5/09
Sorry to say but the Girl Scout Council cited the economy in slow sign-ups for the planned event. Not to worry however as we attempt to bring the event in the Fall if registrations materialize. Thanks to all who volunteered and particularly Jen Moore who organized the event. Look for updates in early October.
Please plan on attending and providing support for the annual Girl Scout outreach program. This year it will be held at the Aviation Museum at St. Louis Downtown airport (Parks). The girls will be taught the fundamentals of flight including weather, communications, navigation, physics, careers, and learn about the museum and aviation history. Typically we have at least one member teach a segment and the girls attend small personal classes. The event runs from 10AM - 3PM but allow an extra half hour before and after for set-up/ clean-up. You do not have to work all day but the more people to share helps enrich the experience for both our members and the kids too! We'll see you there. Contact Jen Moore to sign up.

Elections around the corner - Please contribute. 4/09
With Election time coming up in the next few weeks, please take the time to help out Women With Wings. We need you and your fresh ideas to make the organization work. The board meets once per month via tele-conference or in person if they desire to guide our chapter. Past board members are ALWAYS available to help with protocol or details. Lambert Tower Tour offers unique view. 2/09
Thanks to the board for setting up this unique experience. The tower took groups of 5 people over several days to visit Lambert tower first hand. Patti Brown led the tour and is an enthusiastic controller that wishes never to leave the job. The weather was great and the tower was as nice of operation as we have ever visited.
MACTS conference delivers again! 2/09
This year's MACTS conference at the Maryland Heights Center was enjoyable and very successful. Parking was a big plus this year and many members enjoyed the combined trade show perimeter around the main speaking hall. Cathe' Fish of AOPA, along with FAA representatives provided substantive speeches and information on a variety of topics. The banquet was very tasty and a hearty thanks to our own Karan Hofmann for managing the catering tasks and ensuring that the evening went off without a hitch!
Nelda K. Lee is Outstanding Woman in Aviation 2009! 2/09
The Women with Wings chapter of Women in Aviation proudly announced at the MACTS banquet that our own NELDA LEE was this year's recipient of our local Outstanding Woman in Aviation for 2009. She was truly surprised to receive the award but her decades of dedication to aviation, technology, and engineering made her choice no surprise to the rest of the membership. Congratulations!
In her own words, Nelda extended her heartfelt thanks as follows:
Good morning Karan and WWW chapter members........
What a nice surprise I had Saturday night at the MACTS banquet......you all presented me with an award and golf club covers and a helicopter pin ......The only thing that was not a surprise was the fun and enjoyable time we had together because I knew this was going to happen....it is the way we are when we are together. Thanks to all of you.
