Officer Reports

- President
Karan reported that she will be writing the next article to cover the Science Center Event and Holiday Party. She believes the article will be due in January.

Karan was not able to attend the MACTS meeting which was at the same time as this meeting. She is going to follow up with Gloria regarding details.

- Vice President

Jen was absent from the meeting.  However, she will be sending out a reminder about nominations for the Outstanding Woman in Aviation Award and Aviation Advancement Award that are due by 12/15/08. Gloria Bahn and Jeff Edwards have both donated a check ride!

- Secretary

Cindy did not have anything to report this month.

- Outreach

Eve spoke again about the possibility of a fund raiser at Scott Trade. Bill Camp, our guest, had just participated in this for his daughter’s High School. Based on what he described, the Board felt that it would actually cost more money to participate than we could make.

The Board discussed the idea of combining our fundraiser with another event. Maybe do a Plane Wash or Bake Sale at Mt. Vernon in conjunction with their fly-in pancake breakfast.

Eve is going to order 10 signed copies of  Stars of the Sky, Legends All.  By doing that, there will be no shipping costs. We can sell them at MACTS for a small profit that can go into our treasury.

- Treasurer

Carrie reported that there were no new expenditures for the chapter and that she needs to reimburse Carol Weber for the Web Site fee. That amount is: $23.97.

The chapter still has a balance of: $1,027.99 in the bank.

There are 28 paid members for the chapter.

Special Notes

The food collected at the Holiday Party was donated to the O’Fallon Food Pantry. Thanks to everyone that participated! It was greatly appreciated!

Another 3 boxes were shipped to Adam! Thanks everyone! He was very pleased with the first 3 boxes!

The Web Site and its layout were discussed. Bill mentioned creating a Members Only section that would be password protected and only available to our chapter members. This could include (authorized by each member) contact information, past minutes from Board meetings, etc. Carrie is going to provide a member list to Bill so that Bios can be kept current with full chapter members.

General Business

Bill Camp was our guest to speak about the up-coming preparations for the Girl Scout Day on May 16, 2009.  Jen has met with the Girl Scout coordinator, Emily Stanley. They had a really good meeting. This included discussing cost of the event, advertising, etc. The Board decided that a site visit would be done in January to see how to make the most of the facilities. The plan is to go on 1/3/09 with a backup date of 1/10. Anyone is welcome, with lunch at Oliver’s to follow.  Bill mentioned that he would like to revamp the program a bit and maybe combine and shorten some of the modules. He said that in speaking with the Girl Scout coordinator, it sounded like they are a little more flexible than St. Louis was for how the program is run. Also, the Girl Scouts have some of their own activities that they need to incorporate into the day. The meetings with the Girl Scouts have been very enthusiastic and Bill anticipates a great program. One of the items that must be worked out is whether or not we want to design a new patch for them or use the Aviation badge they have. The other thing to work out is the cost to the event. Bill said in previous years we were able to keep it to about $12 per Girl Scout.

There are 2 baseball style shirts available. They are white with navy blue sleeves, sizes M and L, for $13.50 each. Please contact Carrie if you are interested.
